Klopp, Liverpool’s top transfer targets emerge

Jurgen Klopp has only been in charge of Liverpool for a few days, but he’s already being linked with bringing in plenty of top players to breathe new life into Liverpool’s squad.

Various reports on Monday in the British press claim that new players Klopp wants to bring in include two forwards he worked with at Borussia Dortmund and a Portuguese teenage superstar.
We are of course talking about Robert Lewandowski, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ruben Neves.
First up, reports in the Independent claim that Klopp is keen on bringing Lewandowski, 27, to Liverpool as the Polish international — who is on an absolute tear right now with club and country, Kyle Lynch has more on that here — made his name under the German coach at Dortmund. Lewandowski won the Bundesliga Golden Boot at Dortmund and his goals were integral to BVB winning back-to-back Bundesliga titles under Klopp. The tutelage of the new Liverpool boss after Lewandowski arrived from Lech Poznan in 2010 is seen as key in the development of the towering forward and he may be eager to re-join Klopp in the Premier League. Despite his incredible goalscoring form for Bayern Munich, there is reportedly growing tension between him and current Bayern boss Pep Guardiola.

Then, another of Klopp’s former strikers is linked with a move to Anfield as $50 rated million striker Aubameyang has admitted, according to the Daily Express, that he would be interested in re-joining Klopp. Aubameyang, 26, joined Dortmund for $15 million in 2013 from French club St Etienne and has scored 56 goals in 107 games, including 14 in 13 appearances this season. Many believe Klopp will give the likes of Danny Ings and Christian Benteke a chance to prove themselves for at least the rest of this season, but if he so chooses and Liverpool can stump up the cash, it seems like two of his former star strikers would relish a move to Anfield.
Finally, to complete a busy day of rumors in and around Anfield, Klopp is also said to have his eye on one of the most promising midfield talents in Europe: Ruben Neves. The 18-year-old has become a regular for FC Porto and has been scouted by Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona. According to Italian outlet TMW, the central midfielder could leave Porto in January but the Portuguese giants wouldn’t accept anything less than his $45 million release clause.
